**UPDATE!** How to take yourself off the Yellow Pages delivery list:

This one time in France

I wound up on a TV show in France once. Jean-Claude Van Damme was there. It went a little something like this:

So since the acting gig with Jean-Claude Van Damme fell through, I'm back on the job hunt. No plans to steal anyone else's thunder and get all project-y about it, but if you have anything in mind, let me know. You can watch the whole interview, sans subtitles, right here.

Let's see Google do this.

The best use ever for the yellow pages

Who needs a parking brake when the Yellow Pages are around?

Glory Days

IMG_4829

Saw this storefront the other day. Do you think many people envisioned a sight like this in the 90s when we were all celebrating the grand opening of the information superhighway?  The future couldn't pay the rent, it seems.  I wonder if the store stocked this book.  Hopefully one of these will take its place!

Standing up and sitting down for chats

I've decided to stop keeping track how many times I've gone on stage. Because after all, who cares? It was a fun open mic evening at the Comedy Nest in Montreal. Some first timers, some seasoned vets, you name it. I realized something tonight though: I'm having a hard time getting excited about doing the same jokes over and over again to try to perfect them. If you've seen any of my previous videos, you'll recognize most of the bits here. It's not that I don't want to develop them into better material, it's just that I don't really care that much about creating a real hot set. I think I'm more interested in trying new ideas out on stage than trying to hone down a killer stand up routine. I guess that's what separates hack stand ups from really great ones. The desire to perfect material and blast the audience's face off with it. I just don't find it that important to blow and audience away and have them rolling out of their chairs in laughter. Or maybe it was just an off night.  I'm more excited about trying new stuff out, and maybe I'll only do fesh material on stage from now on.

Talking about fresh, The Blue and White Garage is taking up much of my interest at the moment. It's really exciting that interesting people want to come to my garage and talk about cool things they're doing. Just got an email from one of the members of The National Parcs, the blokes behind this:

He wants to come on the show and talk about what he's up to.  Now I find talking about that video with one of the dudes who created it much more exciting than doing the same jokes on stage. Which is why it's hard to concentrate very hard on stand up stuff. Interesting wins over just funny every time in my book. Well, actually I wrote a book, but it had nothing to do with that. It's more like when people say "that's the oldest one in the book" type of book. Anyhoo, lots of great interviews coming up on the Blue and White Garage, so keep your eyes around here and I hope to have some more great stuff coming up!

The Blue and White Garage - Richard Condo from Cigcola

Now this was a surprise! I never expected a visit from the Richard Condo from Cigcola, but the Blue and White Garage doorbell rang and whoomp, there he was. Cigcola is the hottest underground brand in Montreal right now, along with RMSDL Outerwear. I was completely blown away that Richard Condo would descend from his locked compound atop the Coolopolis Towers and come on my little garage-based talk show. And yes, the rumors are all true: he is an absolute gentleman. He was nice enough to score me a limited edition sold out design, The Ladykiss. It's on my back as I type this! I sense a free t-shirt theme coming on, which is great because I like t-shirts. Especially free ones. Thanks again Richard, and I speak for the entire The Blue and White Garage team when I say we hope to see you on the show again soon.
